Can You Build a Network Marketing Business Purely Online?

By Amy Peterson

Network marketing has experienced an explosion due to the internet – a growth it couldn't see in any other way or with any other kind of technology. In fact, many people are now saying that if you have a home business then you could actually build an entire network marketing campaign exclusively online. That's right, you can actually sit there in your home office at your computer and build a full network marketing plan that will work on the internet alone – without having to shake a single hand or distribute one business card.

(article continued below...)

Use the following steps to build your own effective online network marketing campaign and start generating leads and drawing people to your home-based business.

  1. Decide how big you want your business to be. Is your business only going to be something you do on the side for a few hours after a different job, or will this be your full-time employment? Will the internet be the only way that you communicate with your clients, or are you interested in communicate via telephone or speaking to them in person, too? You can indeed use only the internet; it all depends on where you are most comfortable with your communications. If you will be communicating exclusively online, you need to build an internet presence for yourself.
  2. Create a profile with some of the networking sites online. Check out several of the sites and find out which ones has the type of atmosphere and angle that suits what you are trying to establish.
  3. Create a website. You can have a simple lead-generation page that is built with an auto-responder foundation or you can create a complete website with several pages, information, and features. This is up to you, but whatever you do you will need to have a site that is purely your own that can be visited by people who are prospective customers or clients.
  4. Keep a blog. Blogs are useful in many different ways. For one thing, if it is linked to your website, then it is a great way to build your position online and drive more traffic to your site so that they will see your message and potentially hire or purchase from you. Furthermore, the blog will help to keep you in the spotlight in terms of your industry. You'll establish yourself as a kind of online expert and the longer your blog runs, the stronger your reputation will be because you'll be proving that you've been around and doing this for longer than the competition. Of course, your blog is also a great way to very subtly plug your own products or services. This doesn't mean a hard sell, but if you talk about your own experiences with your products or while performing your services, or introduce something new, you'll be indicating to people that you are the right source for information and the purchases without actually saying “buy now” at any point.
  5. Create online content. If you have strong writing skills, you might want to consider writing online articles or press releases. This is different from writing a blog, which is content at a much more informal level. Blogs have a lot of wiggle room for slang and grammatical slips. Articles and press releases require a more official tone. They can do wonders for establishing you as an expert and driving more traffic to your site in order to shop from you or hire you. If you don't have the ability (or time) to write them, you may consider hiring a ghostwriter to get the job done as the rewards for this kind of marketing far outweigh the cost of a series of well written articles.
  6. Join some online network marketing groups. There's nothing wrong with the direct approach. If network marketing is your goal, then why not join a group that was specifically designed to help you do that. These can be great ways to gain new contacts and learn more about spreading the word. These groups typically have great forums where you can share experiences with others and learn some great tips.

These are some very effective and practical techniques to help you to build a strong network marketing campaign exclusively online. Get started today because the sooner you start, the sooner you'll start to see your successes.
